Tammy Evans
Bio
Flutist Tammy Evans Yonce, an Atlanta native, is currently based in Newberry, South Carolina. She is on the faculties of Newberry College and the University of South Carolina Aiken, and she maintains a private studio. She was previously on the faculty of Gainesville State College in Gainesville, Georgia. Dr. Yonce holds the Bachelor of Music degree (magna cum laude) in flute performance from Kennesaw State University and the Master of Music degree in flute performance (Baroque flute/history minor) from Indiana University; she received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Georgia. Her flute performance studies have taken her from New Mexico to Carnegie Hall; she won the Atlanta Flute Club Young Artist Competition in 2004, and her articles on the Baroque flute and flute curriculum development have been published in Flute Talk magazine. She is especially interested in the repertoire of the Baroque and the contemporary periods. She has recently presented and performed at the Flute Festival Mid-South and College Music Society conventions.
